The number of students from migrant backgrounds has significantly increased. This has occurred for a variety of reasons such as economic migration, and in the case of some European countries and Türkiye, a result of political upheaval in Syria. In this study the aim was to fill the gap of identifying barriers for Syrian students’ integration into education process in Türkiye and to provide strategies for overcoming these barriers. An exploratory mixed methods design was used which included 186 participants. The results revealed that systematic, financial, language, and social barriers significantly prevented migrant students’ integration into education process in Türkiye. However, provided suggestions about how these barriers could be mitigated. Recommendations are provided regarding how education systems can put strategies and support systems into place to improve the chances of refugees not only in Türkiye but also in other affected countries.
