Abstract

This study was conducted to reveal the relationship between the attitudes of teachers working in Science and Art Centres (SACs) towards artificial intelligence and their level of responsible use of AI. The study group consists of teachers working in SACs educating gifted students in Türkiye in 2024-2025 term. 310 teachers from different subject areas participated in the study. Descriptive and correlational survey design, which are quantitative research methods, were used in the study. The General Attitudes towards Artificial Intelligence Scale (GAAIS) and Responsible AI Use Scale were used as data collection tools. MANOVA, Pearson Correlation and Linear Regression analysis were conducted to determine the findings. According to the findings although there was no statistically significant difference according to gender, age, education level differences, and level of experience, it was determined that there was a significant difference in daily internet use. Besides it was found that in the positive attitude towards AI, the mean of male is higher than that of female. Other findings include that the cybersecurity factor of responsible AI use is medium correlated with negative attitudes, and additionally, responsible AI use and its sub-factors predict 20% of the total variance of negative attitudes towards AI. For the conscious and responsible use of artificial intelligence, differentiated training programmes and interactive learning environments can be created for teachers; therefore, positive attitudes towards the use of artificial intelligence can be increased and teachers' awareness in this field can be increased.
